Missing Adult and Children Maps

Missing Adult and Children Maps
Posted by MCA on January 4th, 2007

Recently I came across this site which offers a very creative approach to assist in the search for missing adults and children. Even though it is not a missing child prevention tool, it demonstrates a great use of an emerging technology.

Ekamtech built the sites as a public service, to contribute to missing adults and children being repatriated with their families and to display the powerful features of mapping technologies.

Missing Adults Map and Missing Kids Map uses the Google Maps API together with information from the National Center for Missing Adults (NCMA) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to display a current map of the origins of missing adults and children in the United States and Canada.

If you rollover the name of the missing adult or click on a marker on the map an information balloon appears with case details on the missing child or adult.

Their hope is that by presenting the NCMA and NCMEC information in this manner the site will contribute to enhancing awareness of missing adult and children cases in the United States and Canada.

There is a permanent link to the maps at the top

Missing Children Statistics“…A child goes missing every 40 seconds in the U.S, over 2,100 per day

In excess of 800,000 children are reported missing each year

Another 500,000 go missing without ever being reported…”

One Voice, YOUR VOICE, Can Make a Difference

There are many families waiting months, some years and some decades for answers to why, and who.
Unlike a person who dies in a hospital from sickness or an accident, our loved ones died violently at the hands of someone who is not being held accountable for their actions.
These perpetrators need to be stopped before they destroy another life.

Molly Dattilo New Info

New Information Released in Molly Dattilo Case

INDIANAPOLIS - The brother of a missing IUPUI student says he has new information about who she was with just before she disappeared. Molly Dattilo was last seen in July of 2004.

Ben Dattilo says a private investigator has helped dig up the new information.

"It is our hope that this information might ultimately lead to the discovery of her whereabouts and help to solve the mystery of her fate," said Ben.

Ben says a neighbor of Molly's at the Westlake Apartments introduced her to a man, who is now 33 years old on the night of her disappearance.

"Through our investigations we have reason to believe that a John E. Shelton, who then resided at the Chapel Knoll Apartments on 9115 West 10th Street, was the last known person to be with Molly on the night of her disappearance," Ben explained.

According to Ben, Molly went for a rowboat ride on a lake on the apartment complex property with Shelton. He says she then went to dinner with him at a Taco Bell restaurant and then made a phone call to a friend from a nearby gas station.

Ben says that call was disconnected after Molly's friend picked up the phone. Molly disappeared sometime after that phone call that evening.

Her brother says he hopes releasing this information will lead others to come forward with more information that could help solve Molly's disappearance. He urges anyone with information to contact the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department at 327-6984.

A spokesman for the department says Shelton and the woman who introduced him to Molly Dattilo are people who have been interviewed during the investigation and nothing more than that at this point.
