Hi everyone. Yes, we do have more raffles and fundraisers in the works. There is nothing else we can do. We do not have the luxury or the option to just stop and wait around for Jessie to come home on her own...so we have to work hard to keep the funding coming in to continue our search for our Jessie. At this time I do believe she is OUR Jessie. We are all looking for or helping to aid in the her search and we all will thank God when we get her back.
***SO: there is the fundraiser coming up in Edmonton...Kat Strachan (thank you so much, Kat) is organizing it with the help of others in the city who are family to Jessie or long time family friends. It is going to be on May 18th at 7:00PM at Chrome's Lounge, #104 - 550 Clareview Road, Edmonton, AB. The tickets are only $20 and you will get a free drink and pizza with your ticket. The owners of the establishment are giving us 200 tickets for free...meaning that we get every cent of the $20 and he is providing the drink and food to us for FREE. It should be easy for everyone to help sell 200 tickets, after all, we sold 150 tickets to the 1st dinner we had at Malone's on 8th last year and we sold almost 200 tickets to our backyard roast beef dinner we had here at our place.
On a sad note...my wonderful, beautiful cousin, Linda Fletcher (our mom's are sisters), who was the main cook for our roast beef and our turkey backyard dinners held at my place last year, passed away peacefully this morning from cancer. Linda was one of three of the hardest working, honest, loving women I have ever known...my mom - God bless her soul, was one and my best friend Brenda is the other one. Linda was in pain for almost 10 years with only the smallest amount of complaining / which was hardly even complaining...it was just talking about it, but dealing with it in her strong way. After being told by doctors for years that it was her back, she recently found out it was not her back, but it was cancer...and it had spread and the prognosis was not good. Being the fun loving family woman she was, Linda and her daughter, Billie (Nigel) and her son, George put on a huge, wonderful, fun birthday party for her in Maple Ridge this past February 17th. So many people were going to attend, that they had to rent a hall. No house was big enough for all the people who drove from all over the countryside to attend Linda's birthday. We all pretty well knew that this was going to be her last birthday, even if we were not accepting of it. Linda knew it. She talked to me at great length about Jessie being missing and how we are going to find her. She never doubted it at all.
I am upset that she never got to watch the Montel Williams show that is coming up with the story about Jessie on it. I do not have the exact date yet, but it will either be on Friday of this week or the following week. At least that is what they told me when I was there to tape the show. The subject of the show is Human Trafficking and the thing about it that will always stay with me, is that there are several other guests, 3 of them woman who are survivors of human trafficking. One was gone as long as 5 years, but she came home alive and is here to tell her story. I will let you all know when the show will be aired, then if you are working, you can set up your VCR to tape it.
At this time, I want to say, LINDA, I LOVE YOU, ALWAYS HAVE AND ALWAYS WILL. GOD BLESS YOU AND REST IN PEACE.
So, back to the topic of fundraising. We have 2 fantastic raffle draws going on right now. Tickets for both will be on sale from now until Sept. 2/07, which is the Sunday of the Labour Day Weekend. The cost for both are: $25 each or 5 for $100...BUT ARE THEY WORTH IT OR WHAT!! There are always updates on our fundraisers, including pictures when available: www.jessiefoster.ca.
RAFFLE #1 > Both of the prizes will be shipped to the winners wherever they live!
1st Prize: Original Stained Glass Artwork titled "Finding Her Way" (30" x 30" with a Chocolate Grain frame). Designed & created by local Kamloops award winning artist ROSANNA McDONNELL (her website is: www.canvasofglass.com). PICTURE ATTACHED...KEEP IN MIND, THE PICTURE DOES NOT DO IT THE JUSTICE IT DESERVES - IT IS SIMPLY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ARTWORK AND THE WINNER WILL BE A VERY PROUD OWNER.
> VALUED over: $1,500 (No cash value)
***Rosanna & I will be at Sears tomorrow (Tuesday, April 24) from 5 - 7 pm (or so) selling raffle tickets. The stained glass artwork will be on display at this gala. Also, the piece will be on display during Art Walk in Kamloops and will be hung in the window of Merle Normans downtown Kamloops on Victoria Street for viewing.
***NOTE: This special piece of artwork was created by Rose with love, as she is one of many, many people who have known Jessie since she was a young child. Rose and I went to school together since elementary, and her son, Mike was a school aged friend to my older daughters, Crystal & Jessie. The wonderful thing about Kamloops, is that everyone knows everyone...or someone who does know them and Jessie is very well known here. She also has many friends in Calgary, but it does not stop at the cities she has lived in. Jessie has friends all over the country who have been her friends since childhood. Once someone is a friend of Jessie's, they are always a friend of Jessie's.
2nd Prize: Original Necklace with Pendant. Stone donated by longtime family friend, DENNIS BLAIS - Necklace Pendant (14K gold with 18K gold chain) designed and created by local Kamloops Goldsmith ROB CLARK of R&L Goldsmith. PICTURE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME...I WILL SEND IT AS SOON AS I GET ONE.

Thank you to all. Your support is always appreciated and you know, this is so very important. We need to get Jessie back. The biggest thing right now is trying to raise the reward to an amount that someone who knows something cannot resist it. It was $5,000 for several months, but after the Calgary fundraiser, it is now up to $7,000 and growing. We need to have our reward large enough to attract the right people...the ones who have information on Jessie's whereabouts.
Also, to our Canadian supporters. I have volunteered to help a new friend of mine, Pat Cowan from Vancouver, BC, who's daughter Fran (www.findfran.com) has been missing since 1996, get a petition signed by our Canadian citizens to prompt the government to get a National Database...a Clearinghouse...for missing "as risk" and / or "endangered" young adults, older men & women, including the abductions of sons and daughters. We do have the Missing Children's Society of Canada (MCSC), but there is nothing if you are over the age of 17 and you go missing in Canada. (The center would only take up cases that are determined by law enforcement to be "foul play" and would not help locate adults who are trying to disappear.) PLEASE, get a hold of me and get your name on this very important petition, as we need to be able to keep track of missing adults across Canada, should one turn up in another city / province. Thank you for your help in this very important matter.
Take care everyone and please keep in touch. With lots of love, Glendene & family.
