Kent's Letter is an e-mail campaign we've begun in an effort to have as many people as possible see Kent's picture and know that he is missing and in need of help.
It is a completely grassroots campaign, a message passed from friend to friend, around the world.

Please help us to spread the word about Kent's disappearance by sending Kent's Letter to your own circle of friends and asking them to pass it on.

Your help is very much appreciated.

To send Kent's Letter to a friend (or to yourself), simply send an email to KentsLetter@hallontheweb.com and our server will automatically return a copy of Kent's Letter to you. You can then forward Kent's Letter to as many friends and associates as possible.

The Text of Kent's Letter:

Subject: Help Find Kent

Please help find Kent Jacobs.

Kent Jacobs has been missing since March 10, 2002. Kent is chronologically 42 years old, but he has the mental capacity of a 9 year old. He is veritably a child in a man's body. He is a son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and he is dearly missed. He needs medication but does not pose any harm if someone should locate him.

Here's what we ask you to do...

First check the "Help Find Kent Jacobs" website to verify that, by the time you receive this e-mail, Kent is still missing. If Kent has been found, the news will be posted on the web site and we ask no more of you, other than to accept our sincere and heartfelt thanks for being willing to help.

The "Help Find Kent Jacobs" website is located at:
http://www.hallontheweb.com/KentJacobs

If Kent is still missing, please forward this message to as many of your friends as you can. Hopefully they will do the same and hundreds, thousands, even millions of people will see Kent's picture within a very short time.

We pray that someone, somewhere will come forward with information leading to Kent's safe return.

As you forward this message from friend to friend, please don't change the content of the letter itself. We're certain you understand how quickly small changes can become large changes.

Thank you from the heart,

The Family and Friends of Kent Jacobs

LAMAR ASSOCIATES ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF “MISSING FROM THE CIRCLE”
Pro bono service to help find missing and unidentified American Indians

For Immediate Release: Contact: Cyndi Dow (202) 543-8181; Jackie Jacobs 206-388-9200

Washington, D.C.—Lamar Associates, a Washington, D.C.-based law enforcement consulting firm, has today announced the launch of "Missing From the Circle," a non-profit initiative to trace missing or unidentified American Indians and reunite them with their families and communities.

"We are proud to be a part of such an important effort in which we hope to bring closure to these tragic cases," said Walter Lamar, president and CEO of Lamar Associates. "For decades, Indian people from every part of the United States have been murdered or disappeared without justice or resolution and we are committed to shedding light on an area of law enforcement that has been overlooked for far too long."

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has previously reported that American Indians have the highest per capita homicide rates of any racial group in the country. Many Indian people have disappeared without a trace and their cases have gone cold because of the lack of adequate resources on Indian lands to properly investigate.

Missing From the Circle hopes to fill the gap by using an Internet database that will help trace missing or unidentified American Indians. http://www.lamarassociates.net/missingpersons.html

Kent Jacobs, a 42-year-old adult male from the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, has been missing since March 10, 2002. Jacobs has mental retardation and requires medication. Last seen in the Colonial Heights area of Hope Mills, North Carolina, he is physically 42-years-old but has the mental capacity of a 9 year old. He is the first case to be featured on the website.
Mr. Lamar met Kent Jacobs’ sister in Seattle, WA through a mutual friend and heard of her brother Kent’s story and decided to launch “Missing from the Circle” featuring Kent’s case.

“I am so enthusiastic about Missing From the Circle because it will bring much needed attention to people who are not mainstream stories," said Jackie Jacobs, the missing man's sister. “Lamar Associates is performing a valuable service to Indian Country and we pray that this will help all families with missing loved ones bring them home."

Lamar Associates is offering Missing From the Circle as a free service in order to encourage participation from anyone who may have information. All information provided is private and confidential.

"We may not find every person on the list, but we have to start somewhere," said Lamar. "We have to value and respect those who are missing and provide their families with a sense of relief."

Lamar Associates is a private consulting firm specializing in results-oriented law enforcement, security and emergency preparedness solutions. With offices in Washington, D.C., and Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lamar Associates has a vast network of professionals and resources to address a myriad of law enforcement issues.
