Missing Adult and Children Maps

Missing Adult and Children Maps

Recently I came across this site which offers a very creative approach to assist in the search for missing adults and children. Even though it is not a missing child prevention tool, it demonstrates a great use of an emerging technology.

Ekamtech built the sites as a public service, to contribute to missing adults and children being repatriated with their families and to display the powerful features of mapping technologies.

Missing Adults Map and Missing Kids Map uses the Google Maps API together with information from the National Center for Missing Adults (NCMA) and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to display a current map of the origins of missing adults and children in the United States and Canada.

If you rollover the name of the missing adult or click on a marker on the map an information balloon appears with case details on the missing child or adult.

Their hope is that by presenting the NCMA and NCMEC information in this manner the site will contribute to enhancing awareness of missing adult and children cases in the United States and Canada.

There is a permanent link to the maps at the top

Missing Children Statistics“…A child goes missing every 40 seconds in the U.S, over 2,100 per day

In excess of 800,000 children are reported missing each year

Another 500,000 go missing without ever being reported…”
