Medical Conditions: Balas was involved in an automobile accident in 1988, eight years prior to her 1996 disappearance. She sustained a massive head injury in the crash. As a result, she has the mental capacity of a 15-year-old and may suffer from amnesia when she is under stress.
Details of Disappearance
Balas was last seen at approximately 1:00 a.m. on November 26, 1996 in her hometown of Fairview Park, Ohio. She was employed at the Subway restaurant on west 220th Street and Lorain Road. Balas was locking the building for the night with the restaurant's manager at the time she was last seen. She never returned to her residence in North Ridgeville, Ohio that evening and has not been heard from again.
Balas was scheduled to work at 11:30 a.m. later in the day, but never arrived for her shift. Her blue 1995 Nissan Pathfinder sport utility vehicle (SUV) was discovered abandoned in the parking lot of the Cleveland Motel on Lorain Road at approximately 4:00 p.m. that day. The motel is located several blocks from the Subway restaurant. There was no sign of Balas at the scene, but her purse was inside the SUV.
Balas's credit card was used three times after she was reported missing: in Brooklyn, Ohio on November 26, in Brooklyn on November 28 and in Cleveland, Ohio on November 29. All of the charges were small ones, totalling less than $35. Her boyfriend was ruled out as a suspect in her case. Balas received a substantial insurance settlement after her car accident in 1988 and authorities looked into the possibility that someone had tried to take advantage of her and this caused her disappearance, but they found no evidence to support that theory.
In November 2005, Balas's manager at Subway, Larry Wade, confessed to her murder. A photograph of Wade is posted below this case summary. He had been the prime suspect in her case from the beginning, and was convicted of raping another Ohio woman three months after Balas vanished. Wade was charged with aggravated murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping in connection with Balas's disappearance. He stated he had strangled her in the Subway's kitchen after she rebuffed his sexual advances, and afterwards he dumped her body in a trash bin. Wade initially pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, but in May 2006 he confessed to Balas's murder and was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
Balas has never been located.

I run the Stacey Balas website. And it piss' me off !!! everytime I see this get your F-ing facts RIGHT she went missing NOV 26th 1996 NOT OCT !!!!! She was NOT some handicapped retard after 1988. She only had memory laps. She was at work trying to make an honest living. But this F-ing N-er that likes to hunt where he thinks rich white people live scummed into town and hunted her until her could try to rape her and kill her. It took ME 9 & 1/2 years of hagging the police to do something about it. They will NEVER look for her body for one reason b/c they did not even care the day she went missing. NO, Stacey's family and friends that knew her DO NOT want her remembered as some goof-ball and retard.
Nor would she want to be remembered that way. This is one reason he killed her and thought no body would care. Or even miss her.
Even AFTER the car crash in 1988. She was got nothing but A+ 's in school and spoke fluent German. She drove a car, used money, could count, read, write and think ! When they say 15 years old they MEAN she was INNOCENT in her thinking! She wanted a "real job" even that she could of worked for her family. She wanted to be on her own.
Her father tried to tell her about "Black men" and how they are round white woman. BUT, Stacey would not listen to him. She bought into the LIE of "people are just people"
That is why to every ones ever lasting sorrow she did not tell her family that Larry Wade had scummed into Fairview Park from the slums of East Cleveland. (Near where her credit was used for Gas.) And was in a town he had DID NOT have any business in! Seeing he hunts in towns like that.
She did not believe anyone would hurt her. She had very high morals and great respect for the law. And thought other people did too. Only being 25 years old. And not being raised around scum and homeboys she was too innocent and trusting.
In May of 2006 THREE days before MOTHERS DAY !!!! Stacey's mother and blind 80ish Grandmother with others got to stand in court and hear this NASTY N-er tell what he did to her and that he put their ONLY Daughter in the TRASH !
Wade did NOT get anytime on the robbery OR kidnapping. Rape was never even charged. Under the plea deal HE EVEN got to PICK the Ohio prison he would go to. PLUS, this gave him 1 year and 1/2 off of the 10 year day for day sentence he got for the 1997 rape.
He has talked his way out of prisons by way of the Ohio Parole broad at least 6 times scents 1977. And was even arrested THREE times between Aug 1996 and the day Stacey went missing and got out of each one.
Her FAMILY looked for and found her car. The police never looked for her that day or any other day. Nor did they care that she was gone.
Her family friends have looked for her and still do we CANNOT get the police to work. And we have to hag them and fight them to get them to do anything.
Even after almost 10 years in prison on the 1997 rape his DNA is still NOT in COADUS. And I do not think they even plan to put his DNA into COADUS seeing they are lazy. even that they may get a "cold hit"
The state of Ohio has given Larry Wade some "Gifts" they let him Hunt and kill white woman, They let HIM PICK the prison he lives in, they let him out of prison when he asks to be let out.
Do a search on this name this. "Robert N. Patton Jr" He is another Ohio "homeboy" that the State of Ohio let out and where too lazy to put his DNA into COADUS so he could run around with his "magic dick" raping up to 40 woman. Between 1987 to 2003 (= 16 years) 40 woman That they know of and he Bragg's it is over 50. LOL that it is the state of Ohio fault seeing they are too lazy to load the DNA.
I have fought to get just Larry Wades DNA to be put into COADUS but they will NOT. Because they have gave him a Gift over and over again even to the point of letting HIM pick the prisons he lives in!
You see Ohio likes to give their "homeboys" "gifts" BUT let the woman they rape, kill and throw away like trash be remembered as a stupid child.
Stacey case was treated like she was that and she was not. Her case was also treated like she was a dead hooker and she was NOT!
